Story Behind The Image

Another photo taken at the same time as "Aurora Australis" this photo focuses on the beams of light, which is the most magical part of the aurora. These vertical rays are what give the phenomenon its iconic “dancing” appearance, moving and shifting across the sky in real time. 

Even with the light pollution the beams were visible to the naked eye and clearly defined, something that is rare for latitudes this north, especially with the added challenges of light pollution.
