Story Behind The Image

Taken in the Dharawal National Park after a bushfire went through the park, the photo was of a Cicada's body which was clinging onto a burnt tree trunk, the ash from the fire and the built-up mud over time left a perfectly formed cicada fossil hiding in plain sight. 

This photo to me is a striking reminder of the intensity of fire and the impact they have not just for humans but for every other animal which faces them.
