Story Behind The Image

Taken during a thunderstorm which was impacting the Appin region, this image captures the dramatic moment a microburst occurred.

Microbursts are a meteorological phenomenon  which occurs when the cooled air in the storm becomes denser than the surroundings, causing the rain and air to rapidly descend to the ground.

Microbursts look dramatic and intense which is why when I took this photo I made it black and white for added mood and drama.
